Shanghai Program Activities and Networking


The Shanghai Internship Program provides fun and exiting weekend activities in order for you to make the most out of your time living in China. Although you will be working during the day, these events aim to give you full advantage of what the city has to offer. Even though your internship is the most important, it’s essential that you take advantage of living abroad. The events below are just a few examples of previous activities:

Guided Tour of the City

Ni hao and welcome to Shanghai! We will start this amazing summer in Shanghai with a guided tour of the city. Bring your camera, as the tour will show you the main attractions of the city. Enjoy the view of Nanjing Road, the Bund, the Yu Garden and Xintiandi! After exploring the city by bus, you will be treated lunch in genuine Chinese style!

 

Suzhou Tour

Discover the "Venice of the East!" With its rich history, beautiful canals and amazing gardens, this is a trip you will not want to miss! You will visit the traditional Chinese gardens, architectural masterpieces that go back to the 11th century. After enjoying how it was like in the past, we will enjoy a classic Chinese lunch where you’ll get to taste the regional cuisine before we continue our day trip by exploring the museums in Suzhou. We will end our day of visiting the attractions by a car ride back to Shanghai. Join us now for this wonderful cultural excursion!

 

The Culture of Shanghai

Shanghai is now considered as “Manhattan of the East” and one of the world’s most international cities with its around 20 million inhabitants. Explore the streets of Shanghai through the tour of the French Concession. We will make stop at the popular Hancheng City, where all the tourists and expatriates are making their shopping of faux branded clothing, luggage, bags and much more! Don’t forget to take notes on where to find the places as you will want to further explore on your own during your stay with us throughout the summer.

 

Oriental Pearl TV Tower

Scared of heights? Get prepared for some serious sightseeing, as we will visit the highest TV Tower in Asia! The TV tower, 468 metres high, is situated on the opposite of the Bund, which is famous for its grand buildings of various architectural styles. Get ready to enjoy the beautiful views of Shanghai from this top-class tower!

 

Networking

Interested in expanding your professional network? Our Absolute staff will be helping you meet both local- and expatriates living, working in Shanghai through organized networking events. This is a great opportunity for you to speak, socialize and network with important business people from all around the world!

 

Unsponsored Events

We want to help you build friendships and get acquainted with your new city. To help you, our Absolute staff will be planning unsponsored events for the entire group every week. These events are voluntary, but we recommend that you attend these as they will make sure that you will get to know your new city as well the host country.

 

Group Dinners

Throughout the program, our Absolute staff will organize group dinners in various restaurants in the city center. This is a great way to get to know the amazing variety of international cuisine Shanghai has to offer! The last weekend, the group will be spending one final evening, dining, dancing all through the night before saying goodbye to each other. A night you won’t forget!
